The Race

The last big event of the weekend was a kid's fun run at Owen's school. The weather was dreary and drizzly but we'd been talking about it for so long and the kids were so excited that we didn't let that keep us home. I had originally thought they would be doing one lap around the school parking lot but found out that the kids would be running for 15 minutes and trying to complete as many laps as they could (they collected a popsicle stick for each lap to keep track of how many they did). Owen and Paige moved me to tears with their efforts. Neither of them stopped running until the time was up (ok, Paige did once and I thought she was going to say she was done but she just needed her nose wiped and then sprinted away). I think Paige was the youngest one there and I thought Pat or I might have to run with her because she wouldn't want to do it but she was loving it! And Owen is so competitive with everything, especially sports that he had a great time too! The next morning they both hobbled into the kitchen sore from their efforts:)

Here's a video of the beginning of the race. Paige seems a little confused at first but then takes off!
