Mileage Club

During the winter, Owen participated in Mileage club every Monday morning during the winter at his school. They were given pedometers and would run around the gym, earning tokens to represent the distance they covered. Owen ended with a total of 13 miles and he would have covered a half marathon if he hadn't missed a day! So proud of him for participating even when it was hard to get up early. Shout out to Pat for driving Owen and his friend every week:)

Powerpuff!

I redid our Powerpuff people! It was actually kind of fun to see the changes. Pat has a beard, I usually wear my hair straight and Paige doesn't really have blonde hair anymore! Even Owen has a new hairdo!

Science Center!

We had blocked off the whole weekend for Paige's competition but all of her dances were on Saturday so we suddenly had a free Sunday! Yay!! We decided to take the kids to the Science Center to check out the new lego exhibit and see an imax movie. Owen protested as soon as he found out where we were going and was a little testy when we first got there but he eventually came around and had fun. A few times around on the train and he was in much better shape:) The movie we chose was about the Rainforest and it was interesting and informative but I did not enjoy the closeness of the screen! I was amused by the kid that came in with his parents and was worried that they were taking him on a rollercoaster!

Loved riding the train with Owen!

Paige didn't ride the train this time because she was hard at work on a lego stop motion video
Lego blind build! You had to try to build the project by feeling the pieces.

Around and around...
Pat and Owen tried to experience static electricity but not much happened for them

Paige timed out on the balance board because she was so good at it!

Eeek!

Aaaahh!

Paige also spent a lot of time at this double piano/microphone. You could experiment and see what soundwaves looked like and how your voice matched up against the piano.

Competition

This already seems so long ago but I didn't want to miss putting it on the blog! Paige had another dance competition and they debuted a new dance called Elvis Live! Mini line is always one of my favorites because the energy level is so big and there's always a theme...we all know I love a good theme! We had very, very little time between Paige's three other dances so they would dance, then we'd sprint back to the changing area, then sprint back to the stage each time. I don't know how the girls did that and maintained their composure throughout the whole thing! They did a great job though, getting Platinum awards and first place in their categories for lyrical, jazz, and tap. Overall, placing 4th, 5th, and 6th. Mini line was also awarded Platinum and 1st Place!
Other notable moments-trying to get from the parking garage to the hotel and being stuck behind a locked door. Having the fire alarm go off two or three times while we waited for awards. Our Ikea trip on the way home-I think Paige opened and closed every single drawer and cupboard they had:)
Not everyone in mini line but the biggest group we could scrounge up!

This crew!

Maybe my favorite picture from the weekend!

Just missing one from the training group!

Birthday and Celebration 3!

Paige's birthday was on the last day of Spring Break but Pat was back at work and Paige had dance later that day. It was a perfect day to have some friends over to celebrate!

Morning!

Trying to get some lego sets done before guests arrived!

Easter and Celebration 2!

As usual, Owen woke up early on Easter morning ready to find his basket! He had to wait awhile because Paige was sleeping but eventually we all ventured downstairs so the kids could search out their baskets. Owen picked his up and it was so heavy on one side that it immediately tipped over and candy rolled all over the kitchen! We got it all cleaned up so they could gorge on candy and enjoy the morning! Later, we went to my parent's house to celebrate Easter and Paige's birthday (again!). The kids successfully completed their Easter scavenger hunt and then we got set up with a mac and cheese bar for a late lunch. We made way too much but it was so good!!
Good morning!
Found the baskets!

Group picture (with a lean...)

It might not look like much but this cake actually took a lot of planning! It was three layers and we applied a crumb coat for the first time, then a layer of buttercream, then decorated. Pat handled the lettering and procured the buttercream!

A clue!

Found them!

Hug for the birthday girl!

Hug for Uncle Pat

My favorite picture!

On the way home, Paige asked if she could open her presents from us that night. Normally that would be a big no because we would want her to wait until it was officially her birthday but we knew it she would have to wait until 8:30 the next night to do it. So we said yes and wrapped them up really quickly!

No peeking yet!

Paige had picked this out!

Celebration 1!

Due to crazy schedules, Paige ended up having a bunch of birthday celebrations! The first one was with Pat's parents and was also a celebration for Pat and his Dad and Easter! We went to the Olive Garden for a yummy lunch and then came back to our house for cupcakes. Paige did a great job decorating them!
