Dance Weekend!

Paige might have had her busiest dance weekend ever recently! It started out Friday with scholarship classes for four hours. Paige took ballet, tap, jazz, and acro classes. The girls had to learn combos or show off special skills for a chance to earn scholarships. Paige ended up getting second place in tap for her age group! She was so excited and we were so proud! There were a lot of great dancers so it was nice for her to be recognized!

Saturday was competition day. She competed with her group in jazz, tap, and lyrical. They were missing one member of their group and had been working on reblocking the dance for the previous three weeks so it was interesting to see how they adjusted. They did a great job! Their jazz dance got Platinum and a special judge's award for Personality. Lyrical got Platinum and 3rd overall amongst all 12 and under dances and tap received High Gold! We watched some more dances and then I took Paige and Miley back to the hotel to swim and relax.

By Sunday, Paige was exhausted but she had four more classes to take before we could go home! She took jazz, tap, ballet and a musical theater class (she had planned on doing hip hop instead of musical theater but couldn't find the room!). We rewarded the girls with cupcakes before heading home!

I don't always say yes but every once in awhile I'll let the kids play with my phone when they've been waiting an extra long time for their sibling to finish dance/soccer/acro lessons. They both usually open snapchat to take some funny pictures and then I'll find some quality pictures on my phone later!

Snow Day!

Another snow day?! These kids have had pretty good luck this year with all of their random days off. This was right around the first day of Spring. We went to bed with no snow on the ground and woke up to craziness. By the afternoon it was already melting but we decided to try some sledding anyway. We didn't go as fast as usual but we had just as much fun racing and pulling each other on sleds through the woods!

Panera

We went to Panera after one of Owen's futsal games the other week and Paige took some pictures:)

Art Show!

Jamie was featured in an art show at my mom's work where each artist decorated a birdhouse in whatever creative way they wanted. Jamie used some of her photography for the roof and painted some of it in homage to Charley Harper, we loved it! It was interesting to see how different everyone's take was on the project! There was also some nature photography and paintings to see. A couple women were making leaf-shaped bowls and Paige spent 98% of her time there asking them questions and working with her own piece of clay that they gave her and let her take home. Owen spent 98% of his time at the snack counter, eating snacks, and asking for snacks;) 

Stellar Students

The kids don't normally share a lot of news from school but for a couple days in a row, they both came home with great news! They were each voted Student of the Month at their school! Owen's computer teacher nominated him and Paige's 2nd grade teacher nominated her. I'm so proud of them!!

Tournament!

Oops, it definitely doesn't seem like it's been almost two weeks since my last post! Time to do some catch-up posts! Pat coached Owen's travel team in an indoor tournament and even though they didn't win the whole tournament, they fought hard and played well and still won a couple games! They happened to be matched up against a team that they had played during the outdoor season and beaten but couldn't get the win this time. If they play them again, it's going to be a really intense game!

Saturday!

We had blocked off our whole weekend for Owen's soccer tournament only to find out that his games would be 7, 8, and 9 on Sunday morning! Suddenly we had an entire Saturday free so we filled it up with fun! First, we went to a donut place to reward Paige for doing a great job practicing her splits in February. We'd never been to Brewnuts before but I had heard good things and it was all true. The donuts were huge and so good! Owen and Pat got vanilla glaze, Paige got strawberry sprinkles and I took a chance on Hibiscus coconut. All good! Even the bathrooms were interesting! Afterwards, we headed to the Urban Orchid to see Jamie's photography! Such a cool place and the kids were super impressed to see their Aunt's work on display!

Fundraiser!

I believe this is our third year in a row of attending Paige's friend's fundraiser for ARPKD. I can't imagine the details and organization it must take to pull it off but they always do a great job!

A few friends and I pitched in for this coffee-themed basket I put together-towels, mugs, candle, biscotti, Bailey's and a coffee bean grinder

We ran into Paige's teacher there too! Paige was so excited to see her there!
