Half Marathon Day!

We woke up the kids super early today and dragged them downtown so they could sit for two hours in the sun and wait for me to finish a half marathon...I mean...the kids were super excited to wake up this morning because they got to watch me run a half marathon!! There's probably a little bit of truth in both of those choices but really training and getting to run today was an amazing experience and the kids were amazing and Pat is amazing for letting me take the time to do it.  (Sidenote: I appear in every picture in this post. This does not happen very often in a multiple picture post!)

This is at 5 am! There was definitely some excitement in the air (and some cereal...)

Waiting in the stadium for race time!

Almost time!

Finished!

Me and Sarah!

Partaking in post-race snacks. A small reward for doing a great job waiting and cheering!

Bike Aboard!

It's been in our plans for a long time to take our bikes on the train, get dropped off and bike back. We've known for awhile that Owen can bike at least 6 miles so we decided to give it a try over the weekend. I knew as soon as we finished that I want to do it again! I talked up Owen's endurance in the last post and he did not disappoint. We never had to stop at his request or slow down so he could keep up! We also got to see a couple bald eagles and what I think was a heron (maybe Pat can confirm that...).

Aboard the train!

Paige loved the train ride

We stopped for a snack and to let Paige run around

Paige saw this bike and said, "Is this mine? Where's mine?"

Bike Riding!

Going on bike rides is one of my favorite thing to do with the kids. Owen has amazing endurance so we can go pretty far and Paige loves shouting at us to go faster!

Soccer Season!

We have internet again so I'll be able to post to the blog! Yay! Owen's soccer season started a few weeks ago and I never got around to posting pictures. All three weeks have been chilly and rainy but Owen doesn't really seem to notice, he's enjoying it just as much as he does when the weather is nice. It's a lot of fun to watch especially since he's moved up an age group and is now one of the younger kids! They all seem to travel in a pack but Owen is pretty good about getting the ball to the goal:) Here he is in action...

Dangerous feats were being performed on the sidelines!

Soccer!

Owen had his last day of soccer yesterday! The season was so short but yesterday was almost too hot for the kids to enjoy themselves so I guess I understand why they end it so early. Owen did amazing and I already can't wait until next year!

I made Owen pose for the quintessential soccer picture but he wouldn't put down his snack!

Softball

We finally made it out to see Pat play some softball last night!
(click here for pictures from last year)

Pat in action

Paige did this the whole time. No, really, she cried the whole time unless I was swinging her car seat. It hurt my arms.

Owen did this the whole time. He was super excited to watch the game and kept waving to Pat. I felt really bad when we had to leave before the second game but I promised we would go again. Now we just have to get Paige to cooperate...

The funniest part of the night for me was when I was trying to get both kids out of the park and Owen announced he had to use the bathroom. They're still fixing up the park so the only option was a port-a-potty which Owen decleared too yucky and stinky to use (and rightly so). Pat had to run over between innings to help out. Good thing he did because I really didn't want to cram myself, Owen and Paige into a stinky, yucky port-a-potty.

Red Light, Green Light

Some of the soccer action from yesterday. In case it isn't clear in the video...the kids were supposed to dribble when the coach said green light and then stop and put their feet on the ball when he said red light.

Soccer!!!

Owen had his first day of soccer today!! I wasn't able to go but I instructed Pat to take a lot of pictures and videos and then I got the report later. Apparently Owen did an amazing job and had a lot of fun.

#7!! Look at that great form!

We didn't tell Owen about the snack possibility but I think he was pretty excited to get one. I was watching out the window when their car pulled into the driveway and Owen held aloft his Capri-sun very triumphantly.
