Graduation Day!

Owen's last day of preschool is today! His school had a graduation program earlier in the week and we were treated to some songs from the kids. I did get videos of all the songs but the camera work is a bit shaky since I was trying to hold the camera still, keep it away from Paige, and cry at the same time...We're super proud of Owen and we're so glad he loved preschool as much as he did. He spent some time last night lamenting his last day and wailing, "preeeschooool." I think that sadness will turn into excitement once we get closer to kindergarten though...at least for him...I'll be crying that day too...

The proud preschool graduate!

There were pictures of each child holding a sign of what they wanted to be when they grew up.

Owen could see us in the audience so it was like he was singing the songs just for us:)

Paige got dressed up for the occasion too!

3 Month Old Babies

I was looking for a picture of Owen at 3 months to compare to what Paige looks like now and came across these. I took the one of me and Paige a day or two ago so it was really strange to find such a similar picture from 3 years ago...

Happy 4th of July!

Waiting for the parade...

Being patriotic...

I managed to pry open Paige's hand enough to get her to hold the flag!

Big Truck Day!

Big Truck Day is exactly what it sounds like so we always know it's going to be a big hit with Owen. Turns out that Pat was pretty excited about it too since a Coke delivery truck was there giving away free pop:) This one was much better than the one we went to last year. Street sweepers, cranes, a tow truck, three different kinds of police vehicles, and lots more! We were by the police car when the fire truck showed up and it was pretty funny to hear the policemen talk about how the firemen always steal their thunder when they show up with the fire truck. It was true, everyone gathered at the fire truck immediately upon its arrival!
Pictures from last year

Owen loved the ketchup hot dog guy and had no trouble giving him high fives and hanging out with him. He does have his limits though and would not visit with Slider!
Paige was there too and passed the time by munching on her arm:)

Shiny and New

Owen does most things with the gusto you would expect from a 3 year old and so it was no surprise when the wheels on his tricycle split from being used so much...

We ordered some new ones and after a couple hours of effort we finally got them on! I can't wait to see how long the new ones are going to last!

Congratulations to Owen!

We took Owen out for ice cream to celebrate being potty trained! This picture was before we had even paid. He didn't waste any time getting it all over his face!

Success!

I finally had success with a Deceptively Delicious recipe! I was starting to get discouraged so I'm glad this banana bread came out so great. I really love my normal recipe so I was surprised to find out I liked this one so much. It has cauliflower puree in it and I didn't think it tasted like anything was hiding in it at all.

And because they're cute...

Kebabs

I made these Aloha Chicken Kebabs from Deceptively Delicious and they would have been great if I had followed the directions. Unfortunately I didn't and most of the breading burnt and fell off. But what did manage to stay on was good:) They used a sweet potato and pineapple puree. Owen, however wanted all of his breading scraped off so...hiding veggies in his chicken breading was totally pointless...

We're normally pretty horrible at cooking steak and don't even bother trying but we actually had some success with these kebabs! I wrote down the recipe but can't remember where I found it on the internet. I think it used some combination of soy sauce, ginger, pineapple juice, pepper, and oil. Pat took this lovely picture and was also in charge of grilling them.

Soccer!

Owen had his last day of soccer yesterday! The season was so short but yesterday was almost too hot for the kids to enjoy themselves so I guess I understand why they end it so early. Owen did amazing and I already can't wait until next year!

I made Owen pose for the quintessential soccer picture but he wouldn't put down his snack!

Softball

We finally made it out to see Pat play some softball last night!
(click here for pictures from last year)

Pat in action

Paige did this the whole time. No, really, she cried the whole time unless I was swinging her car seat. It hurt my arms.

Owen did this the whole time. He was super excited to watch the game and kept waving to Pat. I felt really bad when we had to leave before the second game but I promised we would go again. Now we just have to get Paige to cooperate...

The funniest part of the night for me was when I was trying to get both kids out of the park and Owen announced he had to use the bathroom. They're still fixing up the park so the only option was a port-a-potty which Owen decleared too yucky and stinky to use (and rightly so). Pat had to run over between innings to help out. Good thing he did because I really didn't want to cram myself, Owen and Paige into a stinky, yucky port-a-potty.

Zzzzzzzz

Both of my children asleep at once! Amazing! Owen thinks he doesn't need naps during the day and I don't really enforce them anymore since it means (usually...hopefully...) he falls asleep faster at night. Because of this he's been falling asleep during random activities. We had gone up stairs to watch the Ohio State marching band and he fell asleep during it. Normally he gets a little more pumped watching Script Ohio.

Paige likes to sleep in odd places too

Visits

We've been having lots of fun visiting with different people lately and I haven't been keeping up with posting the pictures so here are a bunch at once!

Pat's family came over and Owen got to hang out with his Aunt Lauren. Yes, Owen is drinking milk from a shot glass...totally normal, right?

Ashley came to visit with her twin nephews. I didn't remember to take a picture until the very end when the boys were definitely ready to leave and not at all in the mood to pose.
My Dad's birthday was over the weekend and Owen helped him blow out the candles. That's a lemon cake you're looking at. Yum.
Diana and Adam stopped by on their way back home and it was such a nice day that we headed to the park.

Tutu

Little girl clothes are adorable. Seriously. I think it's great what you can get away with as far as clothing options for kids. To amuse myself I sometimes try to imagine how funny it would be to see adults walking around in this kind of stuff.
And the photo session is over...

Raising a Blogger

I'm pretty sure I'm raising a food blogger. Owen thinks it's totally normal to take pictures of his food.

Dinner almost ready...

Bowl of grapes

Owen's face. So artsy. I like how he's looking off into the distance and not at the camera even though he was taking the picture of himself.

Paige and Hippo

I'm going to try to remember to take pictures of Paige and Hippo at different points so I can see how she's grown. Here they are today...
...and one month ago! (Look at that face, I love this picture because she looks so silly)

When Owen found out I was going to take a picture of Paige and Hippo he wanted Giraffe to be in it too!
Owen was ok with posing also. I didn't even tell him to pose like this. He's such a pro.

My Mother's Day

Waffles for breakfast!

I was trying to plant some seeds with Owen and he was super upset about getting his picture taken... I think he didn't want any evidence that he was actually enjoying himself for a moment.

A fort!

I wanted a picture with Paige and Owen and he happily obliged but when I saw them and realized I looked like a giant crazy person Owen refused to take any more! He let out this huge sigh and just walked away. I thought it was hilarious. I actually look less crazy in this picture than I did in the other ones, trust me.

Siblings and a Casserole!

I know...my titles need some work but at least you know exactly what you're getting when you read them:)

The siblings...

The casserole...Chicken Spaghetti Casserole. This was mediocre, I probably wouldn't take the time to make it again because it was basically a less tasty version of the filling from the Chicken Wreath (click for picture, not recipe) we make every once in awhile.

Taquitos and Sleep

I came across this recipe for Beef Taquitos and I'm so glad we tried them. They're a little more work than just making regular tacos but they are so much tastier! They are basically little baked tacos.

Totally unprecedented! Owen fell asleep on the living room floor yesterday! Amazing!

National Oatmeal Cookie Day!

Such a good holiday we had to celebrate!

Owen wanted me to take a picture of his cookie too.
Paige "smiling" in her sleep.
