Vacation: Part Three

Time for some hiking! We started with a very popular trail called Laurel Falls. It wasn't easy but definitely not the toughest trail we did and it was pretty populated (I only liked that because I figured it would keep bears away!). Most people stop hiking when the trail reaches the waterfall but we decided to keep going because Pat wanted to see the old growth forest which was beyond the waterfall. I think we got there...? To be honest, all of the trees look old to me:)
There are pull-overs everywhere to see the vistas and take some pictures so we stopped at a couple on this trip when the beautiful scenery spoke to us or we needed a break from the driving. It was so neat to see why these mountains are called "the smokies" and watch the mist move past.
After hiking we visited a place called Cades Cove, which is an 11 mile loop that you drive through while learning about the people that lived there and their lifestyles. There are places you can stop and hike or old houses you can look through. Some spots are good for seeing bears, elk, etc but we didn't see much besides some very tame horses behind a fence.

I helped Paige by carrying her arm up:)

Laurel Falls, this picture makes it look smaller than it was

No idea if this was from Cades Cove or a side of the road picture

Definitely Cades Cove
