Vacation: Part Four

These posts need better titles. I think we're too far in to change it now though! We started the next day celebrating Owen's half birthday! Usually that means half a card (yes!) and sprinkle pancakes (no:( we didn't have the means to make pancakes...we tried to get breakfast for our later meals and it didn't work out!). Then we packed up the cabin because the rest of our trip we'd be staying at a hotel in downtown Gatlinburg. We had a fun photo shoot because we were worried we hadn't documented all the fun in the cabin well enough and because we're goofballs.
Next was WHITEWATER RAFTING. That needed to all be capitalized because it was everyone's favorite part of the trip. I had signed us up for the easy course but when I went to sign us in, the lady at the desk convinced me to try the harder one. She was right! It was fast and fun and we all loved it. It had a good mix of places to pause and look around (the kids even jumped into the water at one point) and other places where our guide was shouting at us to row faster so we wouldn't get stuck in the rapids. We hadn't even finished and the kids asked if we could do it again! Maybe another vacation we will.
After rafting, we checked into our hotel and got ready to explore downtown. I had been told it was pretty touristy and that was completely correct. We bought unlimited passes to ride a ski lift up the mountain and even though Owen was a little apprehensive at first...he was all for it about two minutes into the ride and did his best to get us to ride it more and more the rest of the day! The Skybridge at the top of the mountain looked terrifying from the ground but was better from the top. I didn't love the middle part of the bridge which was clear and you could look all the way down...but Paige did! We headed back up at dusk because Pat was hoping to see the Milky Way and we wanted to see the lights from the city. No Milky Way but the view was still great!

12.5!
