Solo!!

Paige has been working hard on her solo without ever really knowing if/when she'd be able to perform it. She finally got the chance last weekend! She put so much practice and hard work into it and she was so nervous leading up to the day. I was glad she didn't have to worry about group dances and could just concentrate on performing her first solo ever for the first time ever! Normally she'd be in a convention center up on a stage but the convention came to her studio and set up backdrops and lights in a big room they have there. Only the judges, a few teachers and parents of the performer were allowed in for each dance and there were televisions set up to watch from other areas in the studio. The experience really was a blur. She was the 11th performer so she didn't have to wait too long from the start. We got in and watched her do an amazing job and it was done. She was so full of energy when she came out that she didn't know what to do with herself! We were able to stick around a little longer to offer support and watch her friends compete too. Awards weren't until two days later so more on that in another post...

She wouldn't let me take a picture of just her until she was done!

This is really what Paige looked like for most of the time, unless she was performing or pulling off the mask for a quick picture

Paige and her friends were using this space to warm up and practice acro tricks but we pulled them in for a quick picture!

Paige's friends watched her from outside the room and a friend captured this picture!

Paige and her buddy Maeve with their color-coordinated costumes

Paige and her choreographer after the performance. She also made Paige's costume!

The convention included part of Paige's dance in a video they posted so I took a screenshot!
