Goodbye Tree

We got a letter saying there would be some "treework" happening on our street and that the street might be closed because of it. Anytime we see trees being trimmed or hear something like that we worry that they might cut down our tree and this time we were finally right:( Our tree wasn't dying but it was growing under some power lines and pushing up the sidewalk so that is our best guess about why it happened. We would have liked some warning though, we really really loved that tree!! Me especially:) Before it was cut down we'd see lots of people stop to admire it, which might sound weird but it was really big and twisted so there was something special about it. Since it was cut down we see people stop to look at the stump and I had one person stop to tell me what a shame it was that it had to be cut down!
I happened to take this picture 1 or 2 days before they came to cut the tree down. The kids had built a ramp against it to sled down.

Halfway through

All gone! And also now there's a piece hanging on the power lines...
