Field Trip

Owen's class went on a field trip the last week of school. I didn't go but Owen said it was fun! They drove a bus downtown where they met Lolly the Trolley for a tour of Cleveland. When they came back they had a picnic outside at a local park and got to play. His teacher took this picture and sent it out to all the parents!

Summer Preview

It was Thursday night, the last day of school was the next day and I could not think of anything to make for dinner so we got in the car and drove to the downtown area of our city. We got some burritos from a local restaurant, sat outside and then the kids ran through the fountains. It was the perfect preview of what our summer is going to be like. Impromptu plans, dining outside, and playing with water! I hope we have a lot more nights like this!

Field Trip!

Paige's class took a field trip to the Farmparks last week! The same field trip Owen took three years ago! It was fun and interesting to compare the two trips with Paige then and Paige now. A lot of the activities were the same but I'm pretty sure Paige doesn't remember much from the first trip so she had a lot of "new" experiences. We had beautiful weather for the whole day and everyone was exhausted by the time we left, even me!
Lined up for instructions! A couple of Paige's friends are making silly faces!

Milking the cow! That's Owen's kindergarten teacher on the right!

One of Paige's friends (on the left) was missing her mom and having a tough time so Paige took her hand, along with another friend of hers, and led her around, trying to cheer her up!

Quick stop for a picture!

Time to plant the potatoes!

Baseball Time!

It's baseball season!! Paige requested not to play this year but Owen's season is off to a great start! The kids are pitching this year, as opposed to the machine pitch, so the games are a little different this season. Their are a lot of wild pitches and I've seen at least one batter get hit in all three games we've watched. Owen has already had a chance to pitch in a game and did a great job, even though he feels a little differently about his performance...they can't all be strikes! Their record so far is 2-1.

Safety Patrol

Owen signed up to be part of safety patrol at school for next year! He had a week of training with a fourth grader and now he's on his own for the last week of school. He was stationed by the kindergartners so I've had lots of chances to see him in action and so far he's doing a great job:)

Health and Fitness Fair

We had to split up a couple weekends ago so that Paige and Pat could get to soccer and I could get Owen to baseball pictures and practice. After soccer was over, Pat and Paige went to a Health and Fitness Fair that a close friend had organized for the schools and had a great time. They saw a helicopter land, went into a SWAT vehicle, met some Gladiators players, and had fun in an inflatable obstacle course. Then they enjoyed some lunch together!

After the Show!

It was so nice of people to come see Paige perform and I know it meant a lot to her! She gladly posed for pictures with everyone!

Showtime!

Paige has been working hard for months now on her dance company's spring ballet, At the Circus. She went to practices that would last 2-3 hours and she loved every second of it! I kept thinking she would get bored because part of the practices were watching the other performers and just waiting for your turn to go on stage but she would get excited every time we went back to the dance studio. Her part was as a baby elephant and of course they danced to the Baby Elephant Walk. I'm always impressed with how much these kids can do when they're so young, and I'm not just talking about Paige! Watching Paige was my favorite part and I had to hold back tears but the rest of the show kept my attention too! Some family members were able to make it to the show too so I'll post those pictures tomorrow!

Dress Rehearsal!

Paige and her friend Makayla

The baby elephants were allowed to watch from the side of the stage during the dress rehearsal and they were totally enchanted by the older dancers.

Waiting for the show to begin!

Mother's Day!

Mother's Day was filled with hugs, homemade gifts, and visitors! Paige and Owen gave me gifts they had made in school (maybe that will be another post!) and Pat got me a fun new tea steeper. We had a cookout with Pat's parents before they joined us to watch Owen's soccer game and then we got to hang out with my family afterwards. It was awesome having the chance to see both of our moms and hang out with them one on one!

Owen Lately

We have some catching up to do on Owen! Here are a few things that have been happening with him-

Owen's class is dissecting owl pellets! I remember doing this when I was in elementary school and it was somehow gross and awesome at the same time. Owen's teacher sent this picture out and I could only save it using a screenshot which is why it looks the way it does!

Baseball practice! Owen is in a 9-10 league this year which means the kids are pitching instead of a machine. Owen did pretty good for his first time! He had some strikes but also a lot of wild pitches:)

Owen had his first, but not last, orthodontist appointment! He was a little disappointed to find out that he doesn't need braces for at least a year or two because he loved the office (hot chocolate AND video games??) and he thinks braces would be cool!

Costume Day!

Costume day at dance class!! Paige's recital is getting closer and pictures are soon so the girls received their outfits in class last week. The excitement in the room was adorable as all the girls tried them on. They have no idea what the costumes are going to look like until that day so it really is a genuine surprise to everybody. Paige is in three numbers this year so she has one outfit with a removable tutu (ballet) which trades out for a fringe skirt (tap) and then a separate pink fringe outfit (jazz).
Genuine unbridled excitement!
