Parkinson's Walk

Time for the Parkinson's Walk! We ended up raising about $150 and $30 of that was just from the kid's lemonade stand. I think we missed the walk last year because of vacation so it was nice to be able to attend this year and the weather was beautiful!

Day 2 and 3

Day 2-Paige just had one dance for this day-mini-line, but we had to be at the venue early to practice for jazz, which had been called back to compete in the finals!! It was a pretty uneventful day until someone noticed that they were running an hour and a half early. Everyone had been wandering around practicing, some not even in costume or with makeup on so it was quite a shock to find out they were the next dance! We even still had some people stuck in traffic! The last-minute confusion didn't change their performance though, they all went up there and did amazing!
Day 3-The finals!! It's super exciting to be invited to compete in the finals. They take the top 10 performances from your category and all the groups come back to compete for a final winner. Paige's jazz dance had scored the highest of their three dances so that was the one they had to perform. Since they had tied for first, they knew they had some tough competition and would need to step it up! And they did! They won first place and those girls could not have been more excited!

Nationals Day One Part Two

Paige had mentioned being nervous about trio for a few days leading up to the performance but when the time came for it, she didn't seem nervous at all! She went up their confident and did an amazing job, I was so happy she finished with a performance she was proud of after all the hard work she put in this year! They ended up getting second overall!

Nationals Day 1 Part One

Finally time for Nationals! I think Paige's competition season started earlier this year because by the time Nationals rolled around, I was ready for a break! Of course by the time it was over, we had such a good time, I wasn't ready for it to be done:) Paige ended up needing to be at the competition for 3 of the 5 days. Her first day was all of her group dances and trio (more on that later). The girls were all really relaxed and laughing up a storm which I think led to really great performances. All of their dances scored double platinum and their jazz dance tied for first overall, lyrical got second and tap got third!

Father’s Day and a Birthday

Father's Day started out with the kids organizing a scavenger hunt for Pat to find his cards and presents. He did a pretty good job and only needed a little help;) and the kids did a good job sending him all over the basement. Then we headed over to my parent's house because we had a birthday to celebrate! We've been doing a terrible job celebrating birthdays in a timely fashion so this celebration for my dad was long overdue. I made a cheesecake the night before but forgot to refrigerate it so I had to throw it out and hurry and make a new one before it was time to leave! Later, Pat had his last Stumbler's game. I had been trying to watch one of his games all season so even though it was kind of rainy and wet outside, I was glad we fit it in! I had forgotten my purse at my parent's house but luckily, Jamie lived nearby and brought it to me!

Lemonade!

The kids opened up their lemonade stand for two days to raise money for the Parkinson's walk and ended up with about $30! They didn't have a ton of traffic but most of the people that stopped were very generous. At one point we even had a "competing" lemonade stand down the street raising money for another good cause:)

Summer Fun

The summertime get-togethers have begun! We got together with some friends the morning of the second day of vacation and then ended up all back at their house that night for some more fun. The kids found a frog and built a home for it before releasing it and played a fun game where they tried to aim stomp rockets into the trampoline where a team of kids waited to catch them. There was a point system but I have no idea who ended up winning. Also, there was food and music and dancing. Perfect summer day!

Last Day of School!

There has been a lot of excitement around here about the arrival of summer break but also some sadness at what they're leaving behind! Paige was particularly sad to be done with her teacher, Mrs. Mucha and Owen was bummed about not seeing some friends for a couple months. They both had a great year and grew a lot, literally and figuratively. Can't wait to see what 4th and 7th grade hold for them! It will be Paige's last year of elementary school and I'm already feeling sad about it!

State Cup

State Cup weekend never turns out how we want it to! The boys played hard but lost the two games they were able to play. The second game was delayed for about an hour and the third game got cancelled because of weather. Maybe they'll make up the game another weekend but for now, State Cup is over and either way, the team isn't moving to the next level! Besides getting to enjoy watching Owen play soccer, we did fit some fun in outside of the games! We went to the same place for dinner for the third year in a row and the boys got to play hotel tag and all jumped in the pool (even though most hadn't brought swimsuits).

The teams lined up before the first game

Owen is always on the other side of the field so this is as close as I could get!
