Father's Day Afternoon

We spent a good chunk of Father's Day at a soccer game! Owen's travel team was asked to play at halftime for a new soccer team. It was fun getting to see Cleveland SC play but it was soooo hot that it was also a little miserable. We found the one bit of shade in the stadium and by the end of the game, I think at least half of the fans had moved there too. They ended up tying but Owen's team won their halftime game, thanks to a couple goals by Owen!
Free headbands? Yes!

The rest of the team left but Owen and Noah were still playing...in these dirt mounds:)

Father's Day-Morning

Father's Day! We started the day with one of Pat's favorite cereals, Pops (appropriate, right??), and then gave him a few little gifts (Jelly Belly's, a new Fluxx game, a crazy bar of soap) because we had gifted him a grill early around Memorial Day. The kids did some fill-in sheets about him too, which are always a hit!

NaturePlay

It's been about a year since we've been to NaturePlay at my mom's work and I don't know why we waited so long! The kids love running around there! It was a bit buggy and we had dinner plans with my parents so we didn't stay too long, but hopefully we'll have another visit there soon!

Friends!

We had some friends from Colorado stay with us for a night! It was a short trip but we had fun catching up and the kids had a great time playing. They came over around 8pm and we walked downtown for some burritos, then walked home through the park, in complete darkness with only some cell phone flashlights to guide us! The next day everyone got up at different times so people were eating breakfast at various times while we caught up until they had to leave around 4!

The kids! Wish we had gotten a picture of the adults too, but we only remembered at the last minute to get this one!

Eyes

Paige had her first eye doctor appointment and so far, so good! Owen was hiding the whole time:)

Braces!

Let me be very clear-Owen did not want braces. So then when we moved his appointment up by a month, he was not very excited! He was worried it would hurt so I assured him that it wouldn't hurt to get them on but his mouth would be sore for a day or two. He was pretty mopey during his appointment (I believe the assistant used the word "pathetic") and I felt awful about the whole thing! It's been a couple days now and he's still in a lot of pain and only eating soft foods. He also "hates braces." Here's hoping the next appointment isn't as painful!

Last Game

Tri-City had their last game of the season already! The boys were undefeated last season so they moved up a division and the competition was a little tougher. They didn't win all of their games but they definitely won most of them! It started raining during the game and then the refs delayed it because of thunder (which a lot of people thought was actually just the noise of a plane flying overhead). When the game finally started back up, it was raining harder and there was a lot more slipping around. The boys ended up winning though and it was a great end to the season!

Crew Game!

We made it to Columbus for our yearly Crew game! Pat's parents gave Owen a ticket for his birthday and we all wanted to join him! We drove down for the day to enjoy some shopping/eating at Easton before the game. We all got new sunglasses and ate a great lunch at Abuelo's. The game was at 5 which I thought would be great because then we wouldn't have to drive back so late but it was hooooot. We had to find some shade a couple times during the game to get relief and even the refs stopped the game for the players to have a hydration break! The game was so much fun to watch even though it ended in a tie and as we were leaving it started to rain really hard. So glad it didn't happen during the game!

It was Pride Day at the stadium and instead of the normal smoke, it was rainbow colored!

State Cup!

State Cup time! Owen's team was only slated to play in two games and unfortunately, lost both:( We were very proud of Owen though, he played well in both games and especially hustled in the second game! We had some fun in between too! The kids always love staying overnight at the hotels and we went out for a team dinner at the same place as last year.

Trying freeze-dried edamame-not a fan:)

I don't know what's happening here...I think maybe Paige is singing Moana and Owen is reading while trying to stay warm using the sleeves of Paige's hoodie

Opening line-up for the first game. The referees lead the way down the center line with the teams trailing and then the boys fan out and we all clap. I have no idea why they do this but it's very theatrical and I love it!

Pre-game huddle and cheer!
Dancing after dinner. These kids are always dancing!

After a rain-soaked second game. Tough loss but still smiling!

Last Day of School!

Already?? This year flew by! Owen ended the school year with all As and graduated to 6th grade. He had a great first year in middle school and learned that studying was sometimes necessary to maintain his grades. This was the first year where he really had to spend some extra time studying. Next year he'll be in junior high!

Paige ended the year with a fantastic report card as well and she also got a taco bell gift card in her report card (Paige wanted me to add that!). She loved her teacher and spent many recesses helping out the kindergarteners. Next year she'll be a third grader!!

Daytime to Nighttime

Owen plays a lot of soccer all year round and he wasn't super excited about playing baseball this year when we talked about signups but ultimately said yes. As we struggled balancing soccer practices and games with baseball practice and games, I felt bad about how busy his schedule was turning out! Owen isn't any worse for it though! In fact, even though he's not super passionate about baseball, he loves getting to hang out with different friends and munching on those sunflower seeds:)

Memorial Day!

Memorial Day was a busy day and we spent most of it with the Blatnica's! We started off early with a parade where we met up with the Wilson's too! Then we stopped at the fire station on the way home so we could check out the fire trucks and I could get our annual pictures! We went back for a cookout with friends and made wayyyy too much food and then went to the pool (free day!) to cool off. It was so crowded but it was also so hot that none of us really cared that there wasn't a lot of room to move around. We said goodbye to our friends and went home where Paige promptly put on some pajamas and fell asleep on the couch. She ended up sleeping for 15 hours and Owen was also asleep early and slept for 12 hours! Those two were exhausted!!
