Rainbow!

Paige had her first full dance competition of the season last weekend! It included all group dances (minus acro which still doesn't have a costume) plus her solo and duo for a total of ten dances! She performed her solo on Friday and won 3rd place overall out of about 60 solos!! Most of her dances received double platinums and they all looked great and a ton of dances placed in overalls.
1st-Free As A Bird (solo), Stand By Your Side (small group lyrical), Welcome to the Party (hip hop)
2nd-Body Work (jazz line which also won Judge's Choice)
3rd-Haus of Holbein (musical theater)
4th-Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (small group lyrical)
6th-River Deep (tap which also won Tap Excellence award for the choreo)
10th-Glam (jazz)

Cupcakes!

We used to have a tradition of getting cupcakes with Miley once a month when we would drive her from school to dance (examples here, here and here) but I think Covid interrupted that tradition and I don't think we had gone since! I picked up both girls from school the other day to hang out before student conferences started around 4 and I was about to take them to Starbucks when they remembered the cupcakes and we decided to go there instead. It was fun to be back although the cupcake shop has moved to a new location from when we used to go. Then they wanted a quick stop at the playground before we headed back to the school.

Date...?

Pat and I did go on a Valentine's lunch date to Maya but I don't have any pictures to prove it. Instead, here are some pictures of us at Brewella's, which has the best seasonal decorations of any establishment I know. I got a Rose Gold Latte and it was excellent! Hints of rose and cardamom with oatmilk since they don't have soy there.

Ballet Day

Paige usually only goes to one Ballet Day a year (she just did one in October) but this year her studio hosted a second one in February that usually takes place an hour and a half away. Paige didn't have to participate because she isn't testing soon but she wanted to sign up anyway. When we got to the studio she mentioned that her ballet shoes had a hole in them...and by whole she meant the whole toe had blown out! Luckily, we were able to buy her some shoes really quickly! Paige took classes in jazz, musical theater and Cecchetti and also competed in a scholarship class for anyone studying Levels 3 or 4, ages 11-18. She ended up getting second place!

Pep Rally

The first dance competition of the season is coming up next week so Paige's studio had a pep rally to get everyone excited! They gave each training group a color to wear (there are so many that some groups had the same color) and then they competed in musical chairs, four corners, and trivia. Paige's team won!

Party Time!

It took us a couple weeks to fit in Owen's birthday party and then we had to move the date at the last minute anyway! Owen was supposed to go to West Virginia on Saturday for a soccer game so we scheduled his party for Sunday. Then they moved the game because of weather...luckily all the partygoers were able to come over on Saturday instead! We kept the Ted Lasso theme that we used on his birthday and decorated with flags, red/blue streamers, army men and Ted Lasso stickers. We gave out shortbread and goldfish in pink boxes as party favors.
The balloons are still going strong!

Classic party food-too much pizza, pasta salad, salad, fruits, veggies, chips and pretzels, cookies and cupcakes (added later)

Owen requested Funfetti cupcakes for his party

Soccer

It feels like it's been such a long time but I finally got to watch Owen play some soccer! He had two games and they won the first 2-0 and tied the second 0-0. I loved seeing him play again! I tried with the pictures but they aren't great because we watch from the second floor and I was dodging netting and bars.
