Get ready for more vacation pictures than you'd ever want to see! We started our trip visiting friends in Cincinnati and forgot to take any pictures. We went out for pizza and then ice cream before we headed to the hotel so we could get an early start the next morning. The original plan was to head straight to Mammoth Caves but when we realized we'd be driving past Abraham Lincoln's birthplace we though it might be worth a stop. And it was...sort of. The actual historical site was mildly interesting but Lincoln's "log cabin" was not actually his cabin. We did get to see how he grew up and the detour took us past a restaurant called "Deez Butts" which was both surprising and hilarious and mentioned many times through the rest of our trip.
We had bought tickets ahead of time for a Mammoth Cave tour so we didn't stay long. There was a time change in between the two locations which helped us gain an hour though! I was very glad we bought tickets ahead because most of them were sold out when we got there. The cave tour was a little disconcerting initially but then you just sort of forget that you're deep underground and enjoy all the nooks and crannies of a new environment. We couldn't use flash photography so most of our pictures don't do it justice but we really enjoyed the experience!
After the caves it was time to head to Nashville! I had found a restaurant that had free line dancing lessons and was in the middle of the city so we got to our hotel and headed over there for some dinner. At first the kids said they wouldn't be dancing but once they saw how many people were joining in they decided to have fun and go for it. We also treated them to some very large cups in the shape of cowboy boots which were so over the top that it was hilarious!

It was warm but we were dressed for cave exploring! |

Lincoln's lesser known monument |

The underwhelming log cabin |

The surroundings were nice! |
|
We did a decent job of asking strangers to take pictures of us |
|
These were the stairs to climb back up once we had walked pretty far down into the caves |
|
We took a moment on the walk out to pose |

Dinner at the Wildhorse Saloon-the dance floor is behind Owen and very large boot cups! |
|
The restaurant was three stories so we climbed all the way up to check out the view |
