We traveled to Michigan for a few days to visit Pat's grandparents and celebrate Thanksgiving. We did a horrible job remembering to take pictures so here are just a few.
Owen napping about 10 minutes into the drive!
Owen's favorite part of the trip--there were two dogs! They would chase him if he ran around so he spent a lot of time doing that.
When Owen had his turn with the camera I decided to use the time to take a nap. No, really. I think I fell asleep. I was super tired. That is how he managed to take the most unflattering picture ever. And now I'm sharing it.
Our town was having a holiday walk on Saturday that mostly amounted to Lolly the Trolley touring the area for free and Santa being at one of the local stores. We decided to check it out since Owen wouldn't take a nap and it was so nice outside!
Trolley ride!
Posing (in the bright sunlight!) with one of the many inflatable characters around town.
Pat trying to be as cool as the giant snowman. (picture by Owen)
Our anniversary was yesterday and I never got around to posting a picture. This picture was scanned in on a scanner that desperately needed to be cleaned but I'm too lazy to redo it. We had a fantastic dinner on Saturday night at Hyde Park and Owen gave us an anniversary present by sleeping until 9am! Usually he's up around 6:30!
...and the weather was warmish yesterday...we decided to go to the beach. It was about 10 degrees cooler at the beach than it was at our house which we should have guessed but didn't and so we were all very underdressed. Owen didn't notice and had just as much fun playing in the sand as he did over the summer when it was actually warm.
I know I've mentioned Owen taking pictures with our camera before but we found out yesterday that he is way more skilled than we thought. I handed him the camera, he stepped back and got this shot on the first try, perfectly centered. He then pressed the button that allows you to see the picture you just took, showed us, turned the camera off, handed it to me and resumed his digging like it was no big deal.
Halloween is over and it is officially November but I still have pictures from our Halloween festivities to share! This was our pumpkin carving! We got the worst looking pumpkin ever because I picked it up so late in the week but I think it looked just as good as any other pumpkin we've done. Owen got to help pick out the face this year but wasn't very interested in scooping out pumpkin guts !
Checking out what ended up on his scoop...
I love his face here! He didn't want to touch anything but was still highly amused that we were.
...that almost was. We thought Owen would prefer this getup but he chose to wear his bat again this year instead. The fireman costume went back to the store but we still enjoyed it for a brief moment:)
Pat's sister, Lauren, stopped by last week to show us her new kitten, Milo! He was very cute and Owen was convinced that he was a mini Pierre (a neighbor's outdoor cat we used to see pretty often).
Owen was invited to a super fun Halloween party that we went to on Sunday. All the kids seemed to have a great time. There was a bouncy castle that Owen was obsessed with but we didn't get any good pictures because we were circling it the whole time trying to make sure he didn't fall out (we were unsuccessful but other people managed to catch him). They also thought of the great idea of scattering candy across the lawn and letting the kids fill bags. Really, the perfect activity for a whole lot of toddlers (preschoolers?)
Here are all the kids minus one little conductor that I couldn't manage to get!
Owen trying desperately to unwrap a sucker...we helped him eventually.
Ashley was in town from California so we met her at the zoo with her twin nephews and her sister! The boys had a lot of fun running around together and it was the perfect weather for being outside.
I'm a bit behind on my postings so everything this week is going to be out of order! We went to Whooloween at Penitentiary Glen on Saturday night. It wasn't the best weather but we still enjoyed ourselves! We got to ride on a train and Owen participated in a costume parade!
Owen showing off his bat wings
Enjoying some doughnut holes...
...and some hot chocolate. I believe that pirate in the background later won a prize in the costume contest!
I know this park has a real name but I'm not sure what it is. I love it though and with the fall colors it's even better.

More playground
My favorite part. Soooooo pretty but I could only convince Owen to walk to the dragonfly awning you see in the distance. We got much farther when Pat was there too so hopefully we can get there again while the trees are still colorful and before the weather gets too cold!
Our downtown had a Halloween celebration with trick or treating and we took Owen for some practice! We got him a new costume for this year but he wanted to wear his bat costume from last year instead! Shelly, Ruby, me and Owen ready for trick or treating!
Meeting Elmo (the only character Owen would get close to without looking like he was going to cry)!
So now that people know I'm pregnant I can tell fun stories like this... I feel exhausted and nauseous a lot and so a few times (ok, a lot of times) I've had to explain to Owen that I don't feel very good and need to lie down. Sometimes he understands and other times he doesn't care. Tonight he was trying to convince me to turn on the tv for him and I told him that Daddy and I were almost done cleaning up dinner and we were both going to come play with him instead. He looked at me and said "No, Mommy doesn't feel good." And so I asked him if he wanted me to stay in the kitchen so he could play with Daddy by himself and he said "yes" and then ran out of the room. Awesome. Don't mind if I do...
Apparently we are destined to be hockey fans this season! Pat got us some free tickets that we were able to use on Saturday. This game was at The Q, so it had some pretty flashy intros because they used all the features that are there for the Cavs. It was fun but we only made it through the first period and we found out later that they lost.
Pictures from our annual fall trip to Patterson's Fruit Farm! Also known as Apple Pie Day! Pie pictures will be up tomorrow!
Plethora of pumpkins
Hardy Mums. Get it?
Pictures from 2008 -We went to Mapleside Farms last year to accomodate Owen's naptime but figured he was old enough to make the drive to Patterson's and last the day.
