Our New Year's Day Hike is still a favorite tradition! We were looking for a paved trail because it had been raining for so long but we ended up at a new loop trail that was very muddy anyway! Luckily we all wore boots and the weather was temperate. We hiked for about a mile before we needed to turn around but instead of turning back we forged our own path, dissecting the loop we were on. It ended up being the best part with us sliding all through the leaves and mud as we went down one side of a ravine and back up the other. I wish I had a picture of how steep it was! After we got home I put together a hot chocolate board that I meant to make last month!
