Instead of going to the Botanical Gardens for the holiday display, we decided to check out a place we'd never been. Stan Hywet! It was all done up for Christmas and it was beautiful and impressive. The weather was very mild too, so we also really enjoyed looking at the lights in the gardens and didn't feel rushed to get somewhere warm. I wish that we had visited another time before this so we knew what it all looked like without the decorations, but we're already planning to go back to see it. This visit didn't satisfy all of our curiosities either because we had a lot of questions about the family and the history but there weren't many guides available. At the very least, we now know that Stan Hywet was not the name of the owner but means "stone quarry."
